Thanks for your forum posting and its a great question. ERS has developed and deployed a technology to allow independent abstractors to work from home using an internet connection. A cable modem for high speed internet access is required and we deliver the ERS system, support, updates etc. over the web. The key to successfully implementing this is to have the ability to access the Hospital's medical record from home over the internet. Some HIS vendors such as MediTech have enabled this (as in the case of Columbia Hospitals) and its works really well.
